Overview
Hope and Clay were appointed as the Principal Contractor for the construction of a new access road and Section 278 works to improve connectivity for Begbroke Science Park. The project required careful coordination to integrate with existing infrastructure while meeting the client’s specifications and standards.
Project Scope
The detailed scope of works included:
Demolition and Site Preparation: Demolition of an existing building and removal of all redundant services to prepare the site for development.
New Access Road Construction: Installation of a new access road, including excavation, kerbing, drainage, and tarmac surfacing to provide a durable and functional transport route.
Footpaths and Swales: Construction of footpaths alongside the new access road and installation of drainage swales to manage surface water runoff effectively.
S278 Junction Works: Development of a new junction to connect the access road with the A44, including barriers, traffic light systems, street lighting, utilities, drainage, and road signage.
