Overview
Hope and Clay undertook the comprehensive reconfiguration and upgrading of highway and footpath systems at Wellington College. This project aimed to improve vehicle and pedestrian access, enhance safety, and prepare construction access routes for a proposed Performing Arts building.
Project Scope
The detailed scope of works included:
Road Resurfacing and Re-profiling: Full reconstruction of the Kilometre roadway, including re-profiling to remove steep cambers and resurfacing to address long-term durability issues. The final carriageway was constructed to a width of 5.5m to allow two-way traffic.
Footpath and Cycleway Development: Construction of a 2m-wide pedestrian footpath and a 2.5m-wide cycle bypass around the security hut to ensure safe and efficient movement for students and staff.
Access Gate Installation: A new pedestrian access gate was installed off Dukes Ride to improve connectivity.
Construction Access Route: Upgrading and localised widening of farm tracks for construction vehicle access. Road reconstruction works included areas south of the Anglesea building and along Golf Lane.
This project showcases Hope and Clay's expertise in delivering integrated roadway and pathway solutions while meeting the needs of high-profile educational institutions.
