Overview
Hope and Clay were engaged by Vistry Plc (Bovis Homes) to construct a 60-meter twin-span bridge road and associated infrastructure as part of the North Whiteley development. This pivotal project linked the northern part of the site with the broader development over an existing waterway.
Project Scope
The detailed scope of works included:
Bridge Construction: Execution of piled foundations and abutments to support the bridge. The installation of precast beams was accomplished using a 750-ton mobile crane, ensuring precision and safety throughout the process.
Road and Footpath Development: Construction of the associated road and footpath on either side of the bridge, providing seamless access to subsequent parcels of the development.
Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS): Installation of an attenuation basin as part of the scheme. The newly constructed surface water sewer was connected to the basin, utilising SFA7 headwalls as the final outlet.
This infrastructure project was a critical component of the larger North Whiteley development, which comprises 3,500 new dwellings, playing a vital role in enhancing connectivity and supporting future phases of construction.
